The Hyde Corner
Only in few places like in the Northeast corner of Hyde Park I have enjoyed doing street photography so much. Its a unique environment, even magical I would dare to say….
Every Sunday since 1872, dozens of speakers, lunatics and curious people congregate to talk and debate about almost everything: Economy, religion or the end of the world are very frequent topics, so those risque discussions can easily end up in an argument.
Being among the different debates that take place at the same time is to make a trip towards the strange and surreal, but also it is exciting and fun. These small bizarre performances have reached such magnitude that there are even live broadcasts, which is why the Speakers Corner of the emblematic Hyde Park of London is a place of pilgrimage for thousands of speakers from around the world.
Historical figures such as Karl Marx, Lenin or George Orwell have been important attenders of these unique public meetings.
With this project I wanted to document from my point of view what is to experience a Sunday in the Speakers Corner. Welcome to the Hyde Corner!!
